Introduction:

Mindful communication enhances self-awareness on our genuine presence and intention to understand when interacting with others. Most conflicts in relationships arise due to a lack of understanding and empathy for others.  The integration of mindfulness into our interpersonal relationships helps to create mutual understanding and transform relationships.

Aims of this workshop:

 Through enhancing our mindful communication, acquire better skills to integrate mindfulness practices to counselling clients with Interpersonal Difficulties like couple relationship difficulties, family relationship problems and other relationship issues.  Applying the key concepts of Mindfulness, participants will develop a better understanding about Interpersonal Difficulties from the mindfulness perspective, and explore how mindfulness can help.

Training Format:

Mindfulness practices, case studies, role-playing, group sharing and discussion will be used to enhance learning.

Topic:

  1. The foundations of Mindful Communication – integrating self-awareness into communication

  2. Practice empathic listening to help ground and gain perspective

  3. Bring awareness to ways we disconnect from others

  4. Interpersonal stress: bringing kindness to ourselves in coping

  5. Improving relationships with Interpersonal Mindfulness

  6. Interpersonal conflicts - responding versus reacting modes of communication

  7. Rupture and repairing relationship conflicts

  8. Offering loving-kindness and compassion to oneself and others

Target:

Suitable for helping professionals. Preferences will be given to people who have attended MBCT /MBSR 8 week training courses or acquired mindfulness training, and have regular mindfulness practices.

Certificate:

Participants with 80% or above attendance would be granted certificates

Mrs Winnie Lee has over 30 years’ experience working in the education and counselling field. She started her career as a Social Worker in the Family Services of the Social Welfare Department in HK, then she was employed as a Child and Educational Psychologist in Australia for 9 years before working as a Counselling Psychologist in a local university for over 20 years. She now works privately as a counselling psychologist and a part-time lecturer cum clinical supervisor in local universities.
With her many professional qualifications and extensive work experiences, Mrs Lee is well experienced in counselling cases of different nature including emotional problems, stress and anxiety, parenting, couple/family relationships, children with behavioural and emotional difficulties, mental health issues and other personal issues. She is knowledgeable in conducting a wide range of psychological assessments and training programmes for counsellors, teachers and parents.
